The JATC works with contractors throughout the State of Montana to provide on the job training. We provide a minimum of 8000 hours of on the job training as well as five 
years of extensive classroom training, which will prepare you to take the Journeyman exam.

You will receive competitive wages as well as pension plans and a full-family medical plan, which means all your dependents are covered with no extra money out of your 
pocket.  All provided for you through your employment as an apprentice electrician.

advance through the ranks.

Apprenticeship Programs:

The Montana Electrical JATC offers 3 programs to choose from.  The Inside Wireman program is a 5 year program that requires a minimum of 
8,000 OJT hours as well as 900 classroom hours.  The apprentice will work under the supervision of a licensed electrician during his/her 
apprenticeship.  Once all requirements have been successfully completed, the apprentice will be qualified to take the State administered 
Inside Wireman Journeyman License Exam.

The Residential Wireman and Low Voltage programs are 3 year programs requiring a minimum of 4,800 hours OJT hours with journeyman 
supervision as well as 540 classroom hours.  Once all requirements have been successfully completed the apprentice will be qualified to take the 
State administered Residential Journeyman License Exam.
